What has and what hasn't worked out (click below for extra details)

2021 - Olaf (meetolaf.com) - ACQUIRED

Achieved some level PMF in Finland, Germany and Portugal, but have decided to sell the business in a private secondary transaction due to insane amount of competition from VC-backed companies in the same space.

2014 - eCozy (ecozy.de) - ACQUIRED

Joined the team as the first founding employee in Munich. We've built and marketed premium connected home devices (mostly IoT thermostats) in the ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ markets. The company was acquired (and later bought back by the original founder).

2013 - Pricelessly - CLOSED

A marketplace for influencers and celebrities to unveil their social power for good. The geographical market we have chosen didn't work out and ultimately the venture had to be closed after conducting a few notable campaigns. Post-mortem: angel.co/company/pricelessly

2012 - Socium - CLOSED

A crowdfunding website for socially responsible businesses in 2012, HQ'd in Sweden. It didn't work out. Post-mortem: angel.co/company/socium

2011 - Gazon - ACQUIRED

Kyrill's 1st venture was a paper cup company (with an ads revenue model on top) in Kyiv. Gazon's team went for a niche market, became profitable in less than a year and were acquired by a larger market player.

> my journey in tech

A quick summary, from K to Z ๐Ÿ“ข

Who is Kyrill?

Kyrill Zlobenko is a distinguished figure in the European tech industry, bringing over 12 years of invaluable experience in sales, Go-to-Market strategies, and scaling commercial operations across diverse regions including DACH, Nordics, and Baltics. His professional journey is marked by a series of successful ventures and pivotal roles in high-profile companies. Kyrillโ€™s career began as a Risk Manager at 2008 (great timing, right?)...

How did Kyrill start in tech?

In 2010, he co-founded Gazon LLC in Kyiv, a paper cup company that quickly turned profitable and was acquired within a year. This early success was followed by his role as Senior Marketing Manager at Vi, the largest player in the TV ads market in Eurasia, where he learned the intricacies of large-scale marketing. In 2012, Kyrill ventured into the crowdfunding space with Socium AS in Sweden, though the project ultimately didnโ€™t succeed, it provided valuable lessons and experience.

First ventures

Kyrillโ€™s entrepreneurial spirit led him to join TechPeaks in Trento, Italy in 2013, an accelerator that connected major actors in ICT research, education, and business. His next venture, Pricelessly SRL, aimed to leverage the influence of celebrities for social causes, although it too faced challenges and was eventually closed. His role as COO and founding member of eCozy from 2014 to 2016 saw him develop and market premium connected home devices in the DACH market.

Time at Seedrs (Republic Europe)

Joining Seedrs in 2016, Kyrill held multiple roles, culminating as Head of Europe. During his tenure, he spearheaded a team that raised over โ‚ฌ180M for 140+ European ventures, achieving several milestones including the largest and fastest European equity-crowdfunding campaigns. His leadership was instrumental in driving EU revenue growth and building high-performing sales teams across Berlin and Amsterdam, until Seedrs got acquired by Republic.

Angel investing

Since 2012, Kyrill has been an active angel investor, with over 300 tech investments to his name. His portfolio includes notable startups like Mootral, Restream, Nothing.tech, Grin, Cake Equity, Plum and Taster, among others. He has co-invested into tech ventures with renowned names such as Insight Partners, Sapphire Ventures, Chris Sacca, Tony Fadell, JAY Z, Jason Calacanis and Mark Suster. His role as an angel investor also extends to mentoring and advising early-stage startups through various accelerator programs like the Founder Institute.

Where is Kyrill today?

Currently, Kyrill serves as Fractional CRO & GTM lead at Bacon, an advisor at Masterschool, and continues his active involvement in the tech investment scene. His dedication to empowering clients, transparent approach, and ability to tackle complex challenges make him a highly sought-after professional.
